Reed beds offer a natural solution to domestic waste water treatment that avoids the use of pumps, blowers or other electro mechanical alternatives. Generally these conditions are met on sites that have a sloping site of two to five meters.

If you are a gardiner or if you compost kitchen waste at home then reed beds will probably be suitable for you. It will take a maximum of six hours of gardening per annum to do all the reed bed maintenance that is required.
